What to look out for in UMD CHEM 231

    • Course Structure

    90% of CHEM 231 classes have 3 exams and a final. ~50% assign graded homeworks, which never exceeds 25% of your overall grade (except during Covid).

      Spectroscopy Disadvantage

    Most CHEM 231 professors teach 3 spectroscopy methods (IR, NMR, Mass Spec) during the last 2 weeks of class - giving students minimal time for the unit to sink in. This places you at a disadvantage for Orgo 2 lab (CHEM 242) the following semester. Tutor with me 1-on-1 to help bridge this gap from Orgo 1 to Orgo 2.

      Not Enough Resources
